      Andrew's Koi international

Anyone been here? I stumbled into this place yesterday. Simply an amazing number of really nice large koi. I bought a small Ki Utsuri that is home in QT.

Yup! Used to be my old stomping ground (circa 2004). Odd location on a gravel lot (not sure if it's still in the same location) but had quite a bit of options & very nice/knowledgeable people to talk with.

Most of their fish are kept "out back" out of public view.

while I have never been to the site, Andy has supplied koi for a couple of our clubs events. The fish are nice and healthy and he is always ready to sit there and talk koi with you. I learned a lot from him when he was in Texas earlier this year.

Great Place! Great information, great fish, and great people! Andy did a seminar at the Gardena show and I learned an awful lot.

      Thumbs up

Andy know his koi, and he knows how to grow jumbo koi. Staff is always helpful. Excellent selection of koi for all koi hobbyists. Unfortunately, I live way too close and koi kichi is my weakness. This is Disneyland for me.

I have been a customer for about 14 years. They are very friendly and helpful, and have a lot of great selection.

Talking I go there once a month! It's local :)

Andy and crew are great there. Andy hosts a growing contest yearly there. All you do is to purchase a koi, have it photographed, measured and then you bring it back 1 year later to the competition. Andy has awards, free food, awards, free food etc!
Great place to spend a few hours on judging day. Go to the website and see the photos as well.
This past May I purchased the most gorgeous doitsu hariwake which is growing at an alarming rate and the color yellow is outrageous. The white is like snow.
It has also grown 3+ inches just since May 1st.
It is often said that land blessed with good natural water can produce good crops, rice, sake and beautiful women....and a few very fine Koi.

They had a Goromo their my wife really wanted. She was in the back section. This a beautiful Goromo, the markings made it look like a leopard shark. It was about 22 inches or so. Unfortunately the price was way out of my budget. I love their setup and operation there. I did end up getting a really nice Hi Utsuri from them.

I have been shopping at Andrew's Koi for over 20 years.

In my personal opinion, they are the best koi retailer in Southern California.

They are a family run business. Andy Moo and his wife Louise started the business. Now their son, Ryan, has been stepping up to take over more of the day-to-day operations. Ryan has been expanding their deep tanks, and doubled their grow-out facilities. They have started to sell their own stock - Platinum and Yamabuki Ogon fry from top koi... for $7 a fish (when tiny like 2"). They also offer grow-out services and will take smaller koi and grow them out for you for a year.

Andrew's Koi has a very popular annual grow-out contest. Every year they get in several thousand quality one-year koi, and when you buy during the show, they will register your name (and your koi), and the next year you bring your koi back to be judged. It is a challenge to see who can get the most growth out of their koi while still maintaining quality.

I only go there perhaps once per 6 months... but Louise always knows me by name. It isn't the fanciest koi retailer out there... but it is the best (in SoCal).

Does Andrew take special request or participate in breeders' auctions?
