Nancy, glad that there was no damage beyond a few mashed impatiens.

I found when trying to pull them out that working around the base of the roots and removing as many of the rocks that they had worked their way under made it easier to pull them free. (And of course since I had positioned the rocks to hold the baby plants in place, they immediately incorporated them into the root system and kept going.). So that’s one of the secrets of prying them loose. Reach underneath and work the rocks loose first. Good luck on getting them out easily.

Yes several years ago. They grew very fast and got huge! Problem was, they would break off into the stream and before the end of the summer, their roots were everywhere. They made a lot of mess, but they were beautiful and dd well in full sun.

Saw this on FB and thought of this thread. No problems with impatiens here, they are planted in water!

That is so funny! The ones planted in the water are very quiet.

So I can leave a little dirt and use a rock till they start. Thank you. My green plants aren’t getting a good start yet.

You can leave a tiny bit of dirt on their roots, but the moving stream water will gently wash it off. Post a pic once you have them in.

I thought of you and your little waterfall Just last week when I was out "Plant Hunting". Someone in my community has a little water fall at the front of their property and they have Bacopa monnieri growing in it and it looked really nice. It seems to grow wild all over around here

Very pretty. I like the little flowers on the Bacopa monnieri.

I am just getting started too. Your Impatiens looks great. What is the greenery you have on your waterfall around them?
I love your banana plants. Do they overwinter outside?

I put my Impatiens in my stream last week. I think this is the latest time of the year for me. I usually have them on both sides of the stream, but I decided only to have them on one side. They grow to about two foot around and then grow together blocking the stream. I may end up putting some in later so they will take longer getting bigger around.

I have three different colors but only two was in bloom when I planted them.

I also have one Imperial Taro in the stream and will be putting in one Black Magic Taro soon.
