Hello. You have a very pretty stream. It looks like you have planted Petunias. They are very pretty flowers but they don’t do well in the water. If you can find some Impatiens, I would remove the Petunias and put the Impatiens in their place. They should do well for you this summer.

These are my Impatiens so far this summer. The only problem I have had, is they are getting so big that some of the stems are breaking off. I have started taking some of the stems and putting them into the stream too.

Nancy, your impatiens looking good. And for Souvikch in Seattle, now you have switched to impatiens, they should takeoff. I’m a bit south of you. With the weather we’ve been having . . . moderate temperatures during the day, then dropping 20° into the 50s at night . . . mine have barely grown at all this year. Last year they took off like crazy and were twice as big as they are now. I’ll post when they get a bit bigger but it’s been very disappointing watching them this year. We’re having a bit of a heat wave this week and they seem to be picking up in size. So if you haven’t seen much growth in the last three weeks, hang in there.

This year, the impatiens seem to have grown more slowly. The days have not been as hot and nights much cooler this year. If you compare to the postings at the same time last year in Post #595, they are not as hardy. However, one difference was I only planted two little plants in each location instead of three like last year. Since I could only get two colors at the time I bought them, I didn’t mix them up in tri-color batches like last year. The benefit is they haven’t overgrown the water stream and blocked it or the path a crossed it. But they’re not as colorful as last year. I think I like the tricolor mix better and would do that again next year.

You have a beautiful stream. My Impatiens have not grown as large as they have in past years. I noticed you have ajuga in your stream. Is it planted in the water only? I have some of it in my yard that I could try.

Thanks for sharing your pic with us.

The Ajuga is a volunteer around the edges of the water stream, and down by my deck. Not something I was really wanting, but it seems to thrive.
