Got a blue ribbon at the Carolina Classic Young Koi Show. I feel like I cheated as I just bought it and went and picked it up, but since this is my first ribbon, I will take it! The two judges disagreed; one picked mine and one picked Janae's-Janae will have to explain how mine won out!!! Here is the picture that Brady took:



I liked the symmetry of the head pattern. I looked closely at the development pics that Brady posted in the tosai thread, and I hate to say, I am very lost on what will happen to the pattern on this koi as it grows. I do not know whether more white will enter the dorsal pattern or will it fill in to a solid beni "blotch". Time will tell!

I have some pics of him bowled up before I put him in QT; I will post them tomorrow.

Steve, your Blue ribbon is in the mail. Had to wait until today because no mail service yesterday. Is this your first ribbon? I wish you could have stayed for the awards banquet. It was very differant then the usual banquets, much more casual & affordable.

Thanks, Janae! I appreciate you doing that for me! I now owe you postage, so call a favor out at your convenience! Yes this was my first. Hopefully the next will be for a fish that has spent at least a couple of days in my pond! I feel like I cheated getting a ribbon for a fish I had never seen until that day!

I promise the kitfoxdrvr family will be better represented next show; this weekend by necessity became a combined fish/horse weekend, with horses taking the upper hand this time. I intend to bring fish next time and participate in more of the events. I hope to have a size three or four nisai next year (yours and mine can have a reunion)! I also have a couple of promising sanke and kohaku, as well as some butterfly, that I would like to get a judge's opinion of!

And get to meet some people, yourself included!!!

Now to get that little bugger fattened up! She will have to stay outside this winter, so slow grow the next few months, but spring comes soon!

She is a nice kohaku. I want to see her next year at the show....

Are you going to frame her picture with the ribbon? I wish I would have put pictures with my ribbons, over the years I forget who won what ribbon at what show.
