Our ponds get down to about 45 deg where I am below about 2 feet, with no air running. We have two large ponds, one 3 acres and another 7 acres, and they only get ice on the surface for short periods; deep water stays relatively warm. I am on the north side of the state, and Brady is on the south side. I am not sure how large or deep his ponds are, so maybe he will answer as well. We do get growth on pond species (no koi) during the winter months, so natural food sources remain available through the season. I would not be surprised if Brady feeds all winter; he is at the edge of zone 8, with low temps (air) getting only down into the teens, on average.

A little warmer than Michigan! My dad was up there this week and the combines were running from the time the dew dries til it falls again, trying to get everything harvested before the first snow/ice folds it to the ground. We are still waiting for the corn to dry here!

I guess the temp difference make a huge difference . I wouldn't have even asked if Brady was in Florida or SC .. Thx for clarifying .
