Frank takes #3 rebar and bends them to make a shape. then he attaches metal lathe. He then applies a coat of cement, he applies 3 to 4 coats of cement during this process. Then he uses water tight to seal the concrete. He then makes a thin coat of plaster he applies it with a sponge and bag technique. After it dries he applies a coat of block A ( another water sealer). He then uses concrete stain he sprays it on with a sprayer. He does several different colors to ge the correct color affects. I will post some pics when I get home from work.

Is there a company on-line that sells "quality" artificial rocks designed to withstand constant contact with water if partially submerged?

Hey, can rocks made like this be submerged? Can you use this method to build pond walls?

I have ony used this method to conceal the pond liner on the edge. How would you seal the walls?

my pond is "linered" but i thought this fake rock method could be used to build a fake wall - over the liner.

I don't see why it would not work given the proper time to cure. Maybe some of the concrete experts here can answer better. I have just used it over the edge. The reflection in the water gives the appearance of all rock.

I don't have concrete walls in my pond but I do have them in my waterfall pools. After I finished my waterfalls I did a test run and had small leaks between the pools and the spillway rocks. I drained the waterfall pools and let them dry. I then mixed a slurry of portland cement and Acrylic Concrete Admix Fortifier. I gave the waterfall pools and the spillway rocks two coats of this mixture. It is now as waterproof as a frogs butt.

      Prensum,

      Billy is definately your expert.

      Billy,
In your new thread will you include start to finish? IMHO, the info you have shared in this thread needs to be in the library. I keep refering back to this one. I am going to try that slurry in my waterfall pond..

I'll check my notes later and give you the exact amounts of materials in the slurry.
You might find some info in these threads.

      waterproofing

      The waterproofing slurry.
2 parts Acrylic Concrete Admix Fortifier
      3 parts Portland cement
Mix this well and let set for 10 minutes.
Then mix it again making sure you don't have any lumps.
Use a paint brush and cover all of the areas that will come in contact with water. Make sure you cover areas where splashing of water may occur and overflow points. The next day apply another coat.
Let dry for a couple of days, fill and enjoy your water feature.
