I agree, but like a lot of projects, practice makes perfect. Try some small pieces first. I know there are products on the market that model railroaders use for making molds of real rocks. It's a latex rubber product that you use with bandage gauze in layers. The molds last a real long time and can be used a lot as long as you use a mold release with them. Just pour your mix in, let it start to harden and apply it to your base material and Voila! It has all the nooks and crannies just like the real thing!

I saw some faux rocks at KMart last week that didn't cost an arm and a leg. They were hollow so don't know if you could anchor it in a pond.

Pricy for sure but extremely realistic, I mean Disneyland real, and durable. These things are shipped from Australia without damage, and very lightweight.

Anyways, it's still good to know it's an option that 's out there....

      Thanks Noonie,

They are also very nice for swimming pool construction. If you were to follow the links to the manufacturer's website, (if you haven't already), you would see just how many applications there really are...

Have a great day, and thanks for posting!
