faith is a gift, not a personal talent.
I really love those two mostly white ones they're so cool, especially the one with the 'lightning strike' sumi pattern on ?her? headHopefully the rest of the sumi comes up that will be one nice showa!

Thanks Ethan & Stacy.
They have plenty of exercise - they live in a virtual whirlpool 24/7.
"Lightning Strike" - there ya go, interesting name!

Here is their humble home.
800G showtank
1/4 HP Sequence 1000 pump
Lava rock shower biofilter + matting for mechanical; return angled to create more current
3 surface piercing return jets / aerators
constant trickle flow-through system replacing entire tank once every 3 days or so
ORP probe can be seen hanging in water 24/7

Hey russ et al.
notice the thick black is due to the fact that it is over red.
Nowhere is there any lacquer black that is not touching against the red and if you can extrapolate you can see that the red makes ALL the black lacquer black where it goes under that "unfinished(boke) black.
"Those aren't poodles. They're Dobermans with afros."
Here they are!
All 3 are 15 inches.
One has a deformed left eye - bulging.
2nd has lost most of the beni.
3rd one, which was Skital's pick which was sent to me by mistake, has secondary beni, which hopefully will disappear. Wish there was more beni on the body.
Sorry for the crappy pics, especially the 3rd fish. It would not settle down, and actually managed to jump out and land on the hot concrete. Seems OK though.

Gerald,
Thanks for posting the pictures. Unfortunately, both of our showa growouts lost nearly all of their beni and we are left with some rather non-descript black and white fish. I know others also had issues with their fish losing it's beni. At first I thought it was something I had done wrong but the only fish in the pond to lose their coloring were the two showas. Also, thanks for posting pictures of your set up. Could you please tell me where the overflow water goes. thanks.

I really like the last one - the sumi pattern on the head is too die for and very nice growth! I guess being in CA help....lol!
Happy Koiing!!! Water and nothing but water or filtration????![]()
