Any of you out there ever make your own spawning rope? Or do you know of a link for this?

I might try mop heads this spring.
Still biding my time...but I will be the thread killer again!
Yada
I have seen it done with mop heads.
opps beat me to it
I actually made a DIY spawning mop last spring out of some old rope. It seemed to work okay, but my koi seemed to prefer the manufactured spawning brushes. You can see additional pics & details on my site...
I bought spawning brushes

we tried mops one year, they were cheaply made and fell apart.
I make then out of yarn. It pretty easy, they last forever and my goldies load them up with eggs with no problems. I dont know how koi would do with them I haven't tried yet.
1. Get a 1x anything board about 18 inches long min.
2. Start wrapping a skein of yarn around it the long way
3. Use about half the skein
4. Use some of the yarn to securely and tightly tie around one side of the yarn.
5. cut the yarn on the opposite side of the board from the tie
6. Shake it out and attach a large fishing bobber to the tie.
7. Rinse it thouroughly and throw it in with the fish, they will take care of the rest.

here is a link to making a spawning "mop" using yarn

Well that should help anyone who needs a visual rather than just text. I figured green would be good since spawning brushes are that color. Makes it more "homey" like plants.

The best thing that I have found that is very affordable is the plastic green roping that they sell at Christmas time. My koi and goldfish have spawned on it several years now. It looks like pine roping except it is is not as bushy. It works great. I hang it on rocks from the side of the ponds and I also tie bundles of it to plastic bottles with tops on them. That way they float. I have hatched thousands of Koi with it. Eggs stick it very well. Now the draw back is that it is available only during the Christmas season. It is cheap at K Mart or Walmart. Isn't that course? I thought spawning material was to be soft like a rope mop?
Was thinking the same thing, that what I envision when Bob says pine rope is stiff and coarse and I'd worry about the fish getting hurt on it..so Bob got a picture?
How about string algae? It's all over my pond now anyway! That's probably why I got so many babies last year.
are you talking about the green garland that works for spawning ropes?
I use shade cloth/netting cut up into strips works every time and its cheap
cotton mops work for me
we have had several spawns
throw the mop in a 5 gal bucket after the eggs appear with a blubber
change the water often DO NOT US TAP WATER well or de-clor only
3 to 4 days later scoop out fry with big spoon/ladle not a net
