That's what I like about watching your projects your not afraid to change directions for a better outcome. Your photos and explainations are so clear even I can understand them. They really help me understand lots of other posts that confuse the heck out of my poor little brain. Thanks

I got the 2nd magnum and carbon filter hooked up and going today. Tomorrow it's back to wood work as the filtration is now done.
You know last post I said the filtration was done. Well I lied.
I either created a real master piece or a real mess. But I had 12 inches of perfectly good space just going to waste and it was bugging the heck out of me so I built a couple of TTs out of you'll never guess? Storage bins. (Don't tell Linda, she doesn't know I robbed some of hers).
Each one is 18 by 22, holds 1500 12 ga. shot gun wads. The drawer will slide out inside the cabinet for servicing, has about 60 1/8th inch holes for spreading the water out evenly over the wads, and has a layer of quilt batting in it for a prefilter.
Remember the 1/2 inch lines pictured are just Temp. The overflows from the tank will drop right into the prefilter trays.
I also re-plumbed my carbon filters and added a shelf for them to sit on. Now they are above water level so I can take the lids off with out making a mess.
I guess I have to be done now, no more room.
Steve ya got quite a bit of filtration in that space. What 12" hate to waste it. LOL Glad you made sure there was room to clean the trays.

I've got a dumb question. Once you put the tank on top, how do you do maintenance on any of your filter system. From the pictures, it doesn't look like there would be enough access. ?
all I know is If I was steve's shadow, I'd be plum tuckered out following him around....

Yes, actually every thing can come out fairly easily. I have had the top screwed on and have done wet practice runs with everything to make sure they can be serviced easily. The trickle tower drawers slide out just fine. The carbon canisters will come out easily with the unions, the magnums are right up fromt, and ever if I have to, everything will fit out the doors.
A Lot Of Stuff Under There . Can Weight To See It With A Tank On Top With Lot Of Fishes In The Tanks!!!!
I completed the deal on my new tank tonight. I bought a very nice used 5 foot acrylic tank with oak stand, hood, all filtration and decorations for $300 and swapped it for a brand new 6 foot 125 gallon Tru Vue acrylic tank. My new tank should be here by the end of the week.
I finished my cabinet today. Tank is en route from factory but won't be here until mid week nest week. The waiting is killing me.
Looks nice Steve ya been watchin' New Yankee Workshop. Looking forward to seeing it all setup and running. Heck by time tank gets there you will have some new project done. LOL
