spring 2021. most of these are fish that were new last fall, In the summer of 2020 we had a wild fire come close, and the township doubled the chlorine in our tap water. When i placed my weekly evaporation loss, the chlorine killed the larger fish. 8 fish all 7 tears old,8 to 11 inches lost.

How big (size/gallons) is your pond? Very cool looking fish... Sorry to hear for your loss. Seven years is a long time!

they almost all came from Blackwater koi, the orange ones were called orenji comets, there no longer in their listings. In mid April they have the best stock, they dont last long for sale. the large oranda is one of the few that survived last year.

Those yellow and white goldfish in the first picture caught my eye as well. Very cool. The two bigger ones in the 2nd picture almost look like butterfly koi. Great looking goldfish!

The history of my fish is that I got them from a pet shop and put them in my pond. Yep I feed them Flakes and pellets. For a treat for them I soak the pellets in orange juice (I squeeze fresh oranges into a container and soak the pellets overnight). I'm trying to intoduce daphnia to the pond, so far unsuccessful (I failed because of greedy fish ) I think they might be around about 1-3 years old. Their names are Fish1, Fish2, Fish3, Fish4... Fish10, Fish11 & Strawberry & Cream (I guess you can tell which that one is in the photos) . Their size is from 1.5 inchs to 3.4 inchs

I'm not sure how everyone is getting such good pictures of their goldfish. Every time I get close to the pond they swarm and mouth the water surface b/c they want me to feed them. On the off chance I sneak up on them the water reflects the sun back so you can't see below the water anyway... Any tips for photographing them? In the mean time here is the crew. Some were adopted and some I drove a few hours to pick up (Yellow and Blue Cobalt Shubunkins). Between the wife and kids they all have names

They are all still pretty small maxing out at only 6" for the biggest ones, but they eat as much as you feed them so I'm hoping they get bigger this summer. Most of them started as 3" fish or smaller last year.

New here! We have what i assume is called a mud pond about the size of an inground pool.
I have goldfish mutts from the Wal-Mart lol and a couple koi. I tossed maybe 15 goldfish in the pond in Aug 2019, when I checked on them spring of 2020 there were soooo many! A friend gave me several in Oct 2020 from their landscape pond that sprung a leak.
I know zero things about them I just really enjoy having them!
I'd love to figure out how to get better pictures. And also how to get my water clearer. It won't ever be sparkling I know.

Today was 55 & sunny. So I decided to go pull the cover back and check on my gang. They also got some wheat germ for lunch. Pics are not to good. Sun made a glare and I took the pic through the netting. But the fish still looked good to me. I have missed them.
I still have some lily pads on the surface on the pond.
All seems well so far.

Thank you. At the time of that post the oldest were around 9 years old and 13 to 14 inches long.
Hard to believe this post is 17 years old. Seems just like yesterday when I made it. I love reading back through it.

I would love to see more pics of goldfish.

Yes I still have most of them. I have some young ones that hatched last spring. Some are pretty.

Your fish are very nice. Love the deep red color with the stark white. I also love the pads on your lily!

My pond is 3/4 covered with plants now making it harder to get pics of the fish so maybe this fall I will try to get some pics of them.
