This evening my pond hit 40. By early next week it should be 35 with the predicted weather. This Sunday I will shut down the main pump and drain the filters and piping. This will leave just use the skimmer circuit until it freezes up. The fish are on the bottom huddling together under the netting.

The water was 51 F at mid-afternoon yesterday. 24 hours later, it's 44 F. The air temp dropped 40 degrees in 18 hours from yesterday afternoon to this morning.

Thin ice on mud ponds 4 days ago 28F. Now two days of rain, air temp in 60s and fish spawning on Jan 11.

Wanted to go out and measure the surface water temp but didn't want to get wet💦💦😔

Forecast is to get more all week till Sat. when it finally gets over freezing.
Two years in a row with this much snow is rare for us in western WA.

We have been in the high 60's & low 70's for the last week & a half. I think it will get cooler later in the week.

      Pond temp is at 61.3*.

It's snowing again tonight... I think we're up to almost 12" on the ground. I hope my boat cover holds up
as along with the snow there's suppose to be 40 mph wind gusts.
      Pond temp is *43.0.

We had something like 33 straight days of measurable rainfall in Dec.-Jan. I'd' hope for a rush to
March and April too... but for us the weather is usually about the same as Jan.-Feb.
At least no more snow yet!

      Pond temp: 46.8*

      Eastern Washington here (Tri-Cities) 40.8F.

I love snow, but do not want an event like last year where it looked like the pond had lost water, as there was 3' from surface of pond to the top of the snow, a visual illusion. I have screening on top that is 6" off the surface, and I had to dig down to make sure that wasn't the case.

Due to the snow weight 2 of my supporting (old cedar fencing) boards, broke. Pictured, there is actually a 2nd pond above the one with the black showing. The lower pond had boards break.

I have Sarasa & Shubunkins. They are about 13 to 14 inches long and range in age of 4 to 15 years old. Yes they are active until the water gets around 48* and then they slow down. Once I cover the pond the water stays in the 50's during the coldest part of the winter.
