It would be nice if next year all of us post another updated picture. I know I will either good or bad.

Several fish just missed getting trophies, for example best finish there were 4 fish tied for 2nd one point behind the winner.

Those are some really nice looking kohakus... great contest. Glad Ryan, Sandy, Stephen, and whoever else was involved (who are the judges??) were able to wrap both contests up.

      - Wayne, thinks a koi image on future trophies would look awesome.

Thanks to our judges!!! They did an outstanding job. Many very nice fish in this group!! Congratulations to all the winners AND to those that kept their babies alive during their first year!! I'll be keeping my 2 Kohaku for another year of growth just to see what happens. Will repost pictures next spring for sure.

Thanks Stephen and Mary for the awards!! Nice choices!!!

I don't post very much, being on the shy side but...

Many thanks to the judges and to koiphen for hosting the growout contest and providing trophies. But also wish to personally thank Keokoi (Joe) who did a lot of work for the kohaku part of the contest for getting the fish, taking pictures, and even personally delivering some of the fish to the contestants. Always positive and willing to help with everything koi at any time, expecting nothing in return.

I am very surprised, actually shocked to have even "placed" in the rankings, there were so many beautiful kohaku fish in the contest and this was the first time I ever won anything koi related.

      Thanks,
      Blue

I'd like to express my thanks to Kiophen, the commmitte, the judges and Sandy and Ryan for getting this done.

Also, thanks to Kevin and Joe who supplied the great Kohakus as well as support. And to Brady who did the same with the Showas.

I am honored for my fish to have done so well. These are the first ones that I've owned worth more than $15. It was great to follow all the fish through the year.

      Thanks to everyone involved.
      Doug

Looks like there were some very impressive growth rates on both sides. It would have been nice to see Rob and Ryan with a Brady showa or Roddy and Chris with a Momo kohaku to get more of a comparsion of growth rates. Looks like Doug got spectacular growth out of both.

      Congrats to all.

Post #10 was the best, as in one that would win if all judged in same class in a koi show. Its what the Judges desided on.

Does everyone still have their Kohaku? Hotlips is still around. She has turned into a beautiful fish but not big. My tree in the front yard was hit by lightening and thus ran under the house and hit the pond. Some of you know that the ONLY fish to get hit was of course ..HOTLIPS....she was hurt bad too....but with alot of patience and love and prayers she has come out of most of her "crookedness"....I could never show her but at least now unless I point it out to someone they never see her bent back...I was amazed at how well she healed....She could barely swim and her back would go into spasms....she was almost "u" shaped and it hurt to watch her swim....several people told me to put her down...but I didn't.... I just let her alone and kept the stress down....and waited and I'm glad I did ....cause she is beautiful and swims just fine now....but I wonder if thats why her growth hasn't happened like it has for my Chags and even Butterscoth my Yamabukki who I got at the same time and was the same sizethen has now outgrown her....but her deep red has stayed along with her red lips..and her "bra" on her side...should have named her Victoria for Victorias secret but I never saw it till someone pointed that out to me much later(I think it was Marie..lol ) ...I've included some pictures.....I would like to see some pictures from the others that were in this contest ....since this was one of the first ones done....it would be fun to see what they look like now....these were taken over last weekend....winners as well as the rest like me that didn't win. Its fun to see how they have changed and grown....bring out the photos!

Thanks for the pics. I wasn't here when that went on so it would be nice to see more results.

That is strange because the same thing happened to my growout Kohaku "KoKo" last summer, I assumed it was lightning. Now this spring she/he looks almost normal. I will try to get some pics over the weekend.

Mine are getting quite large. I had shown one in Charlotte and the other N Florida back in 06, they had both made it largest show size class by then, so I was planning to wait to and see if they could get to jumbo size and nice before bringing out again. Will try to get some pics, haven't had the chance to startup my pond for the year yet.
