One key piece of information that would be great for this thread is how many GPH each waterfall is flowing! I'm mid-pond-planning and I'm currently considering 2500gph-ish and would love to know what that looks like!

A good rule of thumb to start with is min. 100 gph per inch of width at the waterfall. Variables are how high over pond level is the waterfall,
as the higher it is the more water it takes to prevent the water from braking up into droplets and giving it more of a dripping noise...
unless that's the effect you're after; and what effect you envision for your stream and waterfall... i.e., a small trickle of flow, or a ranging
      torrent!
Waterfalls are often hard to estimate the actual flow because you may start with a 2500 gph pump but due to head including pipe length,
size, height, etc., it might only be actually flowing 1500 gph. It's hard to know without measuring it.

Ya I’ve seen that number elsewhere as well, but it’s still just a number! it would be handy if each waterfall pic had the approximate GPH going over it

      I love challenges.
Okay, this is a real guess. Waterfall looks kind of anemic because it's still cold out here so only 1 s/g filter
running... but rocks are about 26" across for reference. The flow is from a skimmer to an Evolution ES3500
so flow is est. at 3500 gph @ 5ft. of head. Mine goes through a UV, about 20' of 2" pipe to the s/g filter and
is lifted about 10' above pond level. Video of out put of the s/g filter at the head of the stream:

Waterfall (sorry, too much coffee this morning )...

I'm guessing I captured about 2/3 of the flow over one of the rocks and with that figured in it worked out
      to about 1800 gph.
      (5 gal / ~10 sec = .2 gal per sec. x60 = 30 gal per min. x 60 min. = 1800 gph)

      Here's a picture with the 2nd s/g filter running and I'd guess it's around 4000 gph:

Haha awesome, Steve. Helpful as usual.

That’s really encouraging. Without being familiar with a lot of waterfalls and their specs, it’s tricky to imagine! 2,000gph sounds like SO much water, but, it’s quite calm! Thanks for sharing. Makes me think I’ll aim for 3k gph flow and if I want to turn it down add in a valve to adjust.

I have posted this before but just now took this picture. This one probably flows in excess of 50,000 gph. 2 pumps - the pic with 493 gpm was the same pump on a different pond with a little less head.

      Moon Waterfall

Updates on my DIY (no cost, well maybe a few buck for that little black plastic thing that she brought) Waterfall Feature. Well that is what my DW called it now! Moon Waterfall. We found and old broken pot with some rocks around the house and use it to updates our waterfall.

I guess you could call it that. Well, I ended up having to break it down and changed it up. due to circumstances. But it looks nice while it lasted.
