Spectacular Gary! Nice 'real life' photography too.

      I just LOVE Impatiens.
Never had a summer without at least a half dozen here and there around the gardens and container plantings.
Especially love the New Guinea variety.
They are very care free here, any old idiot could grow them.

I have several that come up every year from seed, volunteering in the strangest places... ...but then again, if you're the least bit observant of your imps, you will notice the football shaped seed pods explode and scatter the seeds for yards in every direction. (especially if you find a very plump one and hold it cupped lightly in the palm of your hand) And like a lot of other plants, they don't bloom true to parent color....which means you can not sell the seeds or seedlings with any guarantee of color or parentage, unless you are a scamster.

Soooo beautiful, Gary! I love impatiens and your pond area! I had not seen this thread - Nancy in NC inspired me to plant some and I did in my stream last year. I planted some again, like you from the little 6-packs, bare root in the rocks along the edge of the stream. They're doing great! They wilt a little in the afternoon sun if it's a particularly hot day, but always come back overnight.

I'm not sure what type of birds those represent but are they just floating in the pond or fixed? Very cool!

I don't think I've ever seen those pictures but they are incredible! You did an amazing job.

Steve when I built this pond it was a water garden it should have never had Koi in it. It was shallow 3 1/2 foot in spots but 12 inches in other. I live in front of the Illinois River and it has a lot of gravel bars those 2 swans were setting on upside down 12 inch flower pots. I waded out int the water in January and like too have froze to death could not even feel my feet. That started an uproar and I had too go buy and ship about a dozen of those swans too different ladies that went crazy for them. They had babies too and each one had a gray baby like the ugly duckling. It has since had the rocks taken out and remade. Sometimes I just wish I had gotten rid of the koi and ket it shallow. It was always clear when shallow
