Grass carp against string algae?
Hello friends:
Once I visited a koi hobbyist who had perfect carpet algae in his pond. It looked like newly mewed lawn, and it was about 5 cm thick. He had 2 grass carp in it, besides koi. No other fish.
Question 1: Now since I have problem with string algae I wonder whether his grass carp made the trick, keeping the string algae short by grazing on it?
Question 2: Do grass carp eat koi food? I am not going to throw vegetables or grass into the pond to feed them.
Thank you for your thoughts!

Koi is a kind of carp, but it is carnivore. Grass carp is herbivore.
