      Home spawned Shiro Utsuri

Size: 92.5 KB Any critique on this little Shiro? This is from a controlled spawn I did in 2023. I know the body is a little short and I don't claim to be able to get the growth the pros get, but I do like her, the pattern is strong and clear IMO and she looks good in my pond

Angie, wow that's a very nice koi. The shashi is clean and sharp most of the kiwa is maruzome the sumi is deep and glossy but the best part is the Shiroji is very important for it to be correct that's what pulls everything together in a Shiro Utsuri. That area that's a little off behind the right shoulder am pretty sure it's going to clear up as the koi matures. Lady this was a homerun for a backyard effort and it says allot about your selection process

Thanks Sam, I'm glad you see what I see in this little koi. I think more than any other fry I've raised, this one brings me the most joy. When it swims next to a Yamabuki or a Kohaku, both fish just seem to pop right out of the water due to the contrast. And to think that I almost culled it early on because of it's slightly short body. That is actually becoming less noticeable as time goes on

Really nice one Angie! It has deep thick sumi and a very interesting pattern. It does not strike me as having a short body. It's thick for sure, but to be ~17" at two years old is not short. That is very good growth, on it's way to being a really big and beautiful!
