Amakacin and other questions

Hello everyone.
After lab tests showed aeromona bacteria our vet prescribed Gentamicin injections. These were ready prepared in the syringes. They made a big difference but we are not there yet despite being in a bacteria free heated hospital tank. In between times I have acquired Amakacin 500mg injection IP but we are not confident about dilution or dosage. Does anyone have a definitive answer please?
Also, has anyone ever experienced the colour coming off a Goshiki (red) when they did a scrape? I’ve done lots of scrapes and this has never happened before.

Since you have a QT setup, why not using Oxolinic Acid for a week in the water? Can you post some photos or videos? What does the vet think? Antibiotic treatment can stress the fish too.

Amikacin is a pretty strong antibiotic. I would fallow the vets procedure until done. And I would contact the vet about using amikacin. I used it a few times many years ago but dont remember dosage. Among hobbyists, opinions vary. Not sure how much vet opinions do. So I can't say this is "definitive", but one vet years ago prescribed Amikacin at 5-7 mg/pound of koi (twice daily). So at 50 mg/ml, he said 1/2 ml for a 5 pound koi, or 1 ml for a 10 pound koi.

For Amikacin with a stronger concentration, one would need to convert that down. Also, a reasonable weight estimate for a koi of average build would be 2 pounds for a 15" koi or 5 pounds for a 20" koi or 10 pounds for a 26" koi.

Hi. Thank your for your reply.
I have attached an image of how she was before the antibiotics. The ulcers are very pale now and a lot of the skin has turned pale pink/white instead of red but I don't have a recent picture.
Is there a particular type of Oxolynic acid I should use?

We were hoping to get her back in the pond before winter but if she and her friend have to spend some more time in the vat so be it. Thank you

If you can get the water to near 70F it'll speed up the healing but then you are looking at least another month or so before it's ready.
