Just curious has anyone checked their's before

Last year I lost my soft sided above ground tank so I broke it down last year two weeks ago I walked in my local Dollar General and saw all the pool stuff at 1/2 off they had a 9' x 26" for 50.00 so I brought it home with me, if I get 2yrs out of it am ok with that. I set it up so I can move the koi that were born last April from the smaller tank's it's been raining here pretty much every day so I thought to myself all save money on water this morning it had about 6 inches of rain water and thought of checking the PH before I started to add anything as you can see in the picture that's pretty low am just curious if anyone has checked theirs rain water ph. You know it didn't occur to me to check the kh am not adding the koi till tomorrow so I added tap water and got some mechanical filtration going but all check it in the morning and add some baking soda after I get my numbers once again am pretty sure that my area got another 3" of rain in the last hour and a half.

Rain water is naturally acidic, buffer up your KH with baking soda...

My guess was correct about the amount of rain it was 3" so the mechanical filtration kept mixing the water and I just went out and took a KH reading and it is 1 drop got some work to do with that water in the morning all take another ph reading in the morning just to satisfy my curiosity.

We got a good rain yesterday afternoon, and here's what I got on the wide range. This sample is from rain that had been sitting on a tarp for about 24 hours. It varies by region and probably also by the direction that the storm was blowing in from.

Your test kit and mine are very similar and yet mine calls for only 3 drops to be added to the sample of water this could confuse some people instructions must be read on all these test kits would be my advice, thanks for sharing your information.

Rain acidity has improved in recent years. It's hard to find rain PH maps that are not 20-30 years old and use color schemes that are not hard to decipher. Here is one of the more recent and easy to read ones that I found. Still, it is from 2012.

Thanks. I saw those maps of the various chemical emissions when I was searching. I wish they would show a recent map of the rain's PH (the bottom line). If they have one, I did not find it.
