      rescue fish problem

      hi

i have some fish from a neglected pond of a family friend. 6 in total. all the others were suprisingly fine and have been intergrated into my pond but i have one that has fleshy spots on body, its fins appear to almost be gone and it has a massive white clump around its gills. i have had it quarantined for a couple of weeks and have treated with anti-bacterial treatments. but it appears to have done nothing. it is swimming fine and eating, but have no idea if it can be treated or not nay help would be great.

Oh wow, that's rough... what exactly did you treat it with? It looks like something (bacteria?) are eating away the fins.
Have you tried swap some iodine on one of the area and see if it does anything?
with a QT setup you can try oxolinic acid at 0.5ppm for a week.

I forgot the name of the growth, there's a specific med that can work on it.

How long has it been like this? It can be caused by virus, as the other individuals from the same batch are fine. Symptoms of virus infections can vary much among individuals. It will probably heal by itself if it is virus, and no treatment is needed.

One of my koi once got ugly lesions around its mouth similar to this, while all the other koi were fine. I just let it be and 6 moths later the lesion was completely gone.

If you can provide a good QT setup, bring the water to 70F will help it heal faster.

Do some research on the internet regarding Acriflavine as a possible treatment ,it seems to be the best suggested cure for fungal type ailments

for which your fish is ailing from,

The rosette flower type out bursts on it's skin, fin rot etc.

Poor water quality appears to be the main cause, probably affecting an individual fish with low immune system and stressed out etc.

A lot of these types of fish ailments are brought about by overall poor water quality.

The fishes body condition looks good, like it has been well fed.
