      Sick Shiro

Help! My friend has a shiro that has a big lump that has appeared over the week. What could it be? COTS says it's some kind of bacterial infection and needs a antibacterial shot but there aren't any koi vets in CT. They say medicated food works, which one would be best? If it was on amazon the food would be best.

You can find Tricide Neo on line. It is as per manufacturers instructions a bath. I think it is too big an area for the dry powder application that some have used for sores. I like using a squirt bottle to keep the fish wetted with the Tricide Neo for the duration as per instructions. I mix 1/4 of the one gallon size packet with a quart of water and use a squirt bottle to keep the fish wetted. This does require putting the fish to sleep with oil of cloves or MS-222, while you work on it, where as the bath just requires a sufficient size container to submerge the fish, but using as a bath is much more expensive and for a fish of this size, I would guess the 5 gallon size packet would be needed for each of the three baths.

Looks like a tumor in the video?

Left port side looks straight with know raised contour of the body shape.

Right side is swollen with a protrusion that is affecting the curvature of the spine.

The left side of the body appears to be dipping down, when the fish is swimming away from the camera.

The pic looks like some bad areas and fuzzy along the top of koi? If it is, sometimes costia, columnaris or a fungal infection can look like this. However bacteria does this also. Really should do a scrape and scope. Please get the tricide asap. Can you get a much better pic and close up.

Need antibiotic treatment, Baytril, Tricide Neo, or Oxolinic Acid.

      Maybe.

Might be tumor causing infection. Might be organ issue causing infection. Or other possibilities.

      Tumors just carry on growing.

But they do start as a visible raised bump, as in the video.
