      Question about Blueberry Bush

We got a Blueberry bush from our friend and planted it in the yard almost a month ago, now the leaves have turned brown and it looks like it died (or seems like). I have done some research on the web and some had mentioned that I can still save it. I am unsure if it was because of the heat in the past 3 weeks and not getting enough water or something that caused it to be that way.

Does anyone know anything about Blueberry bush? And how to take care of them? I am new to this and my family wants to keep it. Thanks in advance.

      Not sure but
Blueberries like acidic soil. When I planted mine I added peat moss to the soil.

May need to be watered deeply 3 or4 times a week. Not sure of your temps there but here in NC it is to hot to plant anything until this Fall. Hope your bush makes it.

I hope it survives too. I brought acid soil and put it in afterward, as of today it still looks the same. I have watered it a lot in the past month. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Do you see any green when scraping the wood? That would tell you if it is alive.
If dead and from a local big box you can return with receipt

Early to mid June is kinda late to plant a bush even worse if it was transplanted ie dug up and moved. Not sure what direction the building wall behind it is facing but if south or west could reflect a lot of heat. Daily watering especially if your soil drains well and perhaps some shade (beach umbrella) might save it.

I will check that out, thanks. I actually got it from a friend.

Yeah, I kinda learned that the hard way after I planted it a few months ago. We digged it up from a friend house and moved it to our. It is south side in the backyard.

I just looked there is some green when I scraped on the wood (or what looks like green or fresh wood), hopefully, my eyes don't play tricks on me.

If it's still alive, I'd give it a good treatment with transplant fertilizer (it has enzymes to encourage root growth), keep it well watered and shaded and maybe prune it back a bit. Good luck.

Will do Doug. My DW will prune it back, hopefully within a day or two.

LOL, Thanks to my DW as when I told her she went out and pruned the tree. Nice and clean now.
