      Exclamation What caused these wounds?

      Hello folks,
I have less then one year of experience with koi and ponds and currently have 6 koi in my pond.
Any idea what caused these wounds on this poor guy? He's about 7 inches and been in the pond for about one month. He seemed (at least his movements) and was eating just fine yesterday. I noticed him being less active near the surface and immediately quarantined him in a water mixed with "Stress Guard" mix. I doubt he'll survive but we'll see. My other fish seem fine.
I've seen wild life around the pond and have installed various deterrents, so that's a possibility.

      Thank you!

Please post your water parameter test including KH
Can you take a better picture now that it is quarantined?
Do you have a microscope to do a scrape for parasites?

Looks like bacterial inflection. Remove koi dry areas with paper towel and apply iodine to infected areas. You can use a ear Q tip. Dont get it in the eyes or gills. Waite a few seconds and put back in Q tank. Get some Tricide Neo as it is the best product for this kind of problem.

Bacterial issues are usually caused by a stressor. So as mentioned need water parameters. If you do not have test kit than get IPA Freshwater Master test kit. Also get the kh one as well.

Your Q tank should be monitored for rises in ammonia from fish especially if it is a small container. And would recommend using pond water. The tap water could contain chloramines etc that the water department has added and this is harmful to the fish.

Usually there is a problem with your pond and set up etc that causes problems with fish. So more info is needed with your entire system. Pond size number of fish bio filter feeding practices etc.

      A Koi fish disease.

Hole in the body, and hole in the head disease.

Caused by two really bad bacteria,Aerosomonas and Pseudosomonas bacteria.

An antibiotic would be needed to control the spread of the disease and kill off the bacteria.

I have seen it in outbreaks with imported fish over the years.

Bacterial infection, ideally Baytril injection, alternatively TricideNeo or Oxolinic Acid in QT, 0.5ppm concentration for 7-10 days.
