Its a Tandanus tandanus, gets to 90cm but that's extremely rare. Will breed in farm dams and will naturally stunt themselves around the 30cm mark.
Here's my last one I grew up in a tank,

I have grown up catching and keeping these fish.
Here's a beautiful yellow morph I was supposed to purchase years ago but haven't seen them for sale since,

To me, it will only ever be some keepers lovably pond fish. That head pattern, just too much hi.

Go to GOOGLE, select the variety you would like to become familiar with and press images.

You become very selective of patterns, body shapes luster male or female etc, as you become involved in Koi.

      Go,Show fish Kohaku, show images.

I have pics of Koi saved that I liked online and they go up to $35000

Do they look like anything like that pic of the pond fish?

They cull a lot of fish!

      Would that be locally bred?

Develop your eye, and visit Koi shows.Dig deep into the Vats

That $35000 fish, once upon a time was $350,00

      Patience,Patience,Patience.

The Japanese have developed a standard pattern, for their Kohaku.

      Their accepted Kohaku pattern.

      They work around,and breed around.

      Red is easy

      Snow white is another story.

A red duckbill up to the eyes and a white peduncle collar between the tail fin and start of the 2,3, 4, hi pattern.

Alternatively a Maruten HI head pattern

Considering a Ginrin but am afraid I will not be able to afford one that I like if I have to buy from a shop.
I would have brought this male? for $200 for a 40 something cm fish,
