      New Pond needed

      Morning everyone

I need some recommendations for a new pond

I am moving my brick and concrete pond and hoping to get a new PVC or plastic pond

      Size is 72 inches X 48 inches wide X 36 inches deep

(I have put up a couple of pictures of my existing pond)

I will be using my existing pump and filter set up

I live in West London (Northolt)

Can anyone recommend any suppliers of ponds ?

      They would be really appreciated

There are not a lot of active members who live in England however you might try farm supply stores and look for large stock tanks. If you want to go bigger you could even put in a preformed swimming pool shell. If there are any fish farms nearby, sometimes you can find old fry rearing tanks -I had a nice 500g fibreglass tank with a built in bottom drain found fairly cheap from a fish farm.

Flexible PVC UV-protected liners are usually preferred over hard plastic shells. At least 45 mil thickness is best. I don't know about suppliers in UK. However, I suspect you could find such flexible liners locally at stores that sell landscaping materials or perhaps gardening centers.

That size would be somewhere around 540 gallons, fine for goldfish and plants. I personally would not want to keep any adult koi in a pond that size.

My pond is 21 years old and the pond builders used 45 mil flexible roofing material for my liner. I have not had a problem with it.

Even though most of us are mainly from the U.S. there are a handful of members who are from your area (I think) like Ci who's from Canada. I am not sure if they are actively involved with responding to posts. Also, even with us being in the U.S. and other areas, we can still help you. Ci and Matt has given you references on what you need to do, she is very knowledgeable. I am pretty sure others will probably come in and give you advice.

Koiphen is international, but your question is very specific to your immediate area. Perhaps reach out to a koi club near you? There looks to be a few, though it’s hard to know which ones are still active.
