Can You Predict Futures for These Koi?

Can you judge my new koi please?
Am I lucky to have one or both female here, or none?

      Thank you,

The Kohaku's got lovely shaped pectorals fins, an evenly balanced overall body pattern which finishes off

evenly before the end of the nose and between the eyes.

The 11/2 cm collar of snow white on the peduncle just balances the tail off nicely.

I believe with the Taniguchi credentials, you have something to look forward to.

Love the body. Does the showa have a crooked mouth?

      Hi Kevin,
      I don't think ( and hope) so.
I don't have a net to catch it to bow for pictures.
This is the best I can take so far.

Ben I am curious...can you add whether your water is soft or hard
What do your parameters usually look like PH GH KH

      Noahsnana,

I'm not sure, but I live in Virginia (US), and people say we have a hard water.
I have a 1,000 indoor pond. I don't measure PH, GH, or KH.
I just do 20% water change every week.

These fish were born in June 2022 ( according to the dealer's Certs)

The bodies are getting thicker, and the color are getting deeper.

The really big beautiful female Kohaku's body, pattern, and fish are nicely balanced, she I think, is being stalked by the male Kindai Showa.

The lower pic Showa looks like she is going to be a very big healthy fish.

I like all the busy Sumi pattern toward the tail with the broad band of Hi and the couple of offset Hi patterns dispersed between the heavy Sumi

      on the nose and mouth.

from the initial pics I formed the opinion that the kohaku was a male, and the showa was female.
I thought this simply because I could not see a dealer letting that perfectly patterned kohaku go unless he was sure it was a male. And the Showa has enough good points to be a valued fish, but isn't at the pattern level of the kohaku. So the breeder would be willing to part with it before it reached its potential.
And that is how I would have seen it. I can't tell what is going to happen to a koi in the future by looking at it. I can only try and figure out why' it is being sold.
The best way I can think of to buy a koi is to step up to a tank where the fish are all the same price and buy the ugliest ones because the breeder/dealer knows why he priced the ugly one as high as the pretty ones.

      Thanks Lukef,
I don't care much about male or female. I just hope they are the same sex so I can keep them all together.

Impressive growth for a 1,000 gallon pond! Where in Virginia are you located? I’m fairly new to koi and would love a nearby mentor and fellow enthusiast
