Cyrtostachys renda aka Lipstick Palm aka Wax Sealing Palm
Anyone knows if Cyrtostachys renda aka Lipstick palm or sometime known as Wax sealing palm, which is a clustering palm with slender red trunks, can thrive when planted in a shallow pond? It originated in Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand in swampy and tidal areas. Thoughts? Will this work if I set it in a pot, and have it submerged say 12" or so in water?
In addition, I am looking for aquatic plant nurseries in south Florida (Fort Lauderdale, Miami area) and to my surprise, I couldn't find one. A few garden centers have a small corner for aquatic plants and mostly it's just lillies. There are quite a few wholesale aquatic plant growers but they do not sell to the general public. If there are local aquatic plant nurseries would appreciate pointing me in their directions.
