      Showa breeders

So i am reallyyyy wanting a showa. Its markings dont have to be what some would call perfect. I rather seem to like the ones others dont lol but i am looking for a showa breeder known for their size. Figured maybe their rejects/culls would have markings id like and of course the size. How do i go about finding them? Would i have to have it imported? Are there any breeders in the US?

      Ty

All start first by saying that in my backyard Showa are a product of my Shiro Utsuri spawns, I still have to see a spectacular one but to be honest after 3 spawns I have yet to see one. Anything coming from Japan it's going to have a higher sticker price stuck to it but if you're patient and willing to wait this year's Shiro Utsuri spawn is up and coming once we can figure out what's developing, buddy you just pay for the shipping materials and it's yours and all post pictures so you know what's coming Here's an example from 3yrs ago.Name: 20200603_115844.jpg

Hi, do remember that the colour pattern on showa probably take time to develop and change a fair bit, mostly over the first three years. The beni (red) will probably remain similar but the Sumi (black) will take time to fully develop. So when you chose a young showa (or Sanke) don't be guided just by the pattern but rather chose a nice healthy fish with a good shape and look forward to the surprise of how the colours are going to develop.

I was going to tell you about the breeder and supplier of my biggest and most robust male showa. He's ginrin, approaching 30", and very thick. I would love to see his sisters! But I checked my records and the guy I got him from second hand did not know who the breeder was. Even worse, he said he got the koi from Andy Moo of Andrew's Koi International, and I hear that place closed down a couple of years ago. Sorry that lead goes nowhere. Hope you find a good one though!

Have you looked at Russell Peters site? http://www.pskoi.com/forums/

He has a nice selection of showa (and many others). He has always been responsive when I contacted him. He currently has several showa from different breeders. I've purchased twice and both times I was very pleased with the service and quality.
