Pump turning on, but no water - trips circuit after about a minute

Hi - my pump is connected to a gctek bead filter and it was working fine. I stopped it add a pre-filter before the pump and now it won't work - turning on, no water comes out and trips circuit breaker after a minute. I took out the pre-filter, put everything back as original configuration but no luck

I tried all the basic things like making sure pump is primed, input and out puts are unblocked etc - no luck.

I tried to move the impeller by hand but could not move it. Below is video of impeller when I try to power on - no movement.

Any guidance will be very much appreciated!

If you look down the discharge pipe, are you sure there isn't something that fell down into the pump like a small rock? The impeller needs to turn freely by hand, it seems something mechanical is stopping the motor from turning freely and is jammed inside the housing?

Could you have dislodged the back vent fan cover, jamming the fan, to stop the impeller turning.

Could be the run capacitor not delivering the mfd to kick the motor impeller over on start up.

Could be open circuit or down to earth.

A multi meter with the capacitor test facility will tell you the state of the capacitor

If you tried moving the rotor and it's physically stuck, it's either an obstruction or seized bearings, not the starter cap.

There are generally no warning signs with capacitors.

Bearings grind to a halt.

We would appreciate feed back please.

Maybe save a call out fee on your single phase air conditioning unit when it stops operating.

Check the compressor or condenser fan motor capacitors.

If this modification was carried over days,it could be the shaft seal has stuck together.

I have had it on pumps I have worked on over time.

But I cannot offer a reason.

Probably mumbling,look at this just another 5 minute job.

Thanks again for all the guidance. Pump is up and running. It was the capacitor I was not able to get enough leverage to move the rotors manually - so bushing was fine and nothing was stuck.

I don't know why the capacitor decided to give right when I was making other changes but oh well - that's life.

Capacitors go faulty in the blink of an eye.

All those single phase fans, vacuum cleaners,washing machines, dishwashers,air cons,power tools.

Check the capacitor before you call someone in.
