Turns out it was 25 F this morning, so a drop 59 degrees F in 15 hours.

To top it off, at 5 pm today, it started snowing big flakes. Soon after, it changed to sleet. So what's so odd about that in OK in February? It was 49 degrees! Not sure how that's possible. Must have been much colder up high.

Wow, what a spectrum of sizes, patterns, and scalation. You’ve gotten some good growth on several of these. Congrats on your success!

Thanks Sean! The mix of compatible types was aimed at getting some variety. I'm a little surprised at the number of gin matsuba that I got.

I knew from past spawns that this linear scaled female must have both a dominant (S) and a recessive (s) scalation gene (SsNn). Thus she can have all the scale types. Otherwise, she could not have the leather babies.

I've tried to be more patient this year with a few of the better looking tiny ones. So while most of these range from about 3.5" to 5.5" a few are as small as 1.5" or as big as 7". I suspect the 1.5" ones are that small because there is something else wrong with them. But I thought I'd let a few grow on out for a while to see if they ever turn the corner or just never grow up.

The gin Matsuba scalation, look like they are from a purpose mating.

Like you can't go too far wrong.

Thanks for the specific feedback Orlando, and thanks for the suggestion Garfield!

And just for clarity, in post #84:
The 4 individual photos of gin matsuba are 4 different koi.
The first two photos are of the same kin kikokuryu from two sides.
The third and fourth photos show the same ki kujaku from two sides.
The fourth and fifth photos show the same yamabuki ogon.
The two bigger thicker yamabuki ogon in photos 8 and 9 different koi, one leather and one linear scaled and the little one in the last photo is yet another.
