      11DEC23 Update:

View from the front door this morning: Got the roof sheathing and tar paper on the filter house/garden shed just in time for last night's rain, wind and snow dusting. The 12"x1"x12' composite boards on the pond wall will be the cap for the 3 viewing walls.

      26DEC23 Update:

It has taken a while, but the new koi pond water has finally cleared enough to see fish at 6 feet of depth. The glare doesn't help.

Two ladders. One for each leg
      Stonework looks nice.
Shade cloth over pond well remove glare and also helps with summer temps. Also helps with predatory birds from spotting the pond.

Thanks for your kind words. However, I'm not a pro. I've just tackled a lot of DIY projects over the years.

Thank you,I have very similar genes.

My pond and pool are Gunite shells.

All the bottom and corner curves are part of the build.

We lean to brick and mortar for the homes and walls etc.

More milestones: Not only does the filter shed have siding and windows, the lights are on with no extension cords across the yard!

I dont see refrigerator for beer storage. Need to talk to contractor as this could be potentially very bad.

Did you go underground and if so what is code for depth

Code is 2' for UF that is not in conduit.

Refrigerator/freezer for beer, mixer, ice & snacks is a few feet away the garage.

Congratulations. The steady progress you have accomplished while building in the winter is amazing to me.

      14MAY24 Update:

      Hello, all.

It has been a hot minute, so posting some update photos. Filter house/garden shed is complete and painted, pond walls stucco is applied. Weather, injuries, work, life, have all extended the completion of this build, but I'm getting close. All that remains is some final overlaying of topsoil, setting paver walkway around pond, making skimmer cover boxes(?), and planting grass (yeah, I know, wrong time of year).

Great progress, it is going to look very nice.

Perhaps wrap 1/4" hardware cloth around the skimmers & pipes secured with a few tapcon screws and stucco over them too, perhaps a planter, ... ?

I think that would be a clever solution. Thank you, sir!

      31JUL24 update:

I "think" all is complete other than Grumpy's suggestion for hiding the skimmers and seeding the lawn this fall. *whew!!!*

6x6 PT posts were set for sunshade and lighting, blocks were laid for paver walkway, and a few other touches added outside. In the filter house I installed a U/V after the S/G in skimmer circuit.
