Curious about this koi

So I just got 2 koi from my mother's pond. They are about 20 years old about 14inches long. It was offspring of her first koi. We could not really see much detail from the top but having a window on my pond brings out it's color a bit more. I also noticed the whiskers they have are quite unusual. I could not find any pics of anything like it online. Is this a normal variation? Thanks!

I think this is a Koi/Goldfish hybrid, sometimes referred to as a “Koimet”.
They usually present with one pair of tiny barbels, like your fish. Yours also has a fancy goldfish shaped body, shorter and rounder than a koi.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. Maybe the butterfly koi that she used to have was actually a goldfish variety.
