Breeder? Just by the photo the one on the right seems to have a slightly bigger frame and head, so a bit more growing potential? Between the two I would definitely chose that one

Great breeder for Kohaku!

The second one has the sturdier, more robust build. Right now, the first one has redder red and whiter white, though I am not sure how much that may change as they grow. I'd also give the first one a slight edge with regard to pattern, though that's subjective.
The first one has a nice three step (sandan) pattern while the second is a bit more "freeform" but otherwise the quality of the hi is similar in regards to kiwa and sashi. With fish so young though it is difficult to predict which one will have the nicer overall pattern once fully grown (although it is a lot easier to have an idea with Kohaku than with showa or Sanke). Body though is something more important even at this stage, if a young fish does not have the build to grow big and powerful it is unlikely it will improve for the better as it grows

I’ve been follow winter boarding Taniguchi for 3 years
Their beni is quiet interesting as it will closeup in some area from tosai to nisai
As for shashi that is more than 2 scales I would avoid picking
Body will be avg because they will not be like Dainichi in long run so I stop pursue this year
I think the second kohaku will turn oút better for pattern wise as traditional 3 steps

This is last year tosai to nisai from Kodama
She got to around 20” in Oct but I rehomed her due too messy shashi
It's hard to compare when they are in two separate images. You can't tell the proportion unless they are both in the same bowl and in the same picture.
With that said, I would pick the first one, thicker beni and cleaner overall...How much are they each? Can't really go wrong with Taniguchi.
