      Filter Backwash Water Reserve/Sprinkler System?

With a few hundred gallons of water that is disposed every week during backwash, I'm wondering if I there is a good way to reserve some of the water or pipe the system in a way where it can evenly distribute the waste water to the rest of my garden/lawn. Has anyone ever tried this? My garden is a 3 feet wide strip of soil that runs against all 3 sides of my rectangular yard. I can have pipes running that lenght but I'm worried about the back pressure of getting the water to travel 50-80ft with corner turns. I guess I can use much larger pipes/tubing than the 2" backwash one that exits the filter. Has anyone ever tried saving some of the water, what is your experience?

Quick and easy is to just use flat hose and manually move to water your lawn and garden. Not sure it's worth the effort to set up a watering system capable of handling flushed debris. I've known several that have done this.

Only a 3 foot wide strip of grass.

      More nutrients.

Forgotten hot flat hose burns the grass.

A slep moving it every time.

I use 2” black abs pipes in a circuit through my garden area. I attach a connecting pipe to it from my S&G filters when I flush them.
The network of pipes are located in the back of the garden strip under shrubs and so are fairly invisible. I have 2” stubs tee-ed off every now and then to feed different areas. The whole system has to be going slightly downhill for it to work, and mine is not as far away or as long as yours. It works fine and all the outlets receive water that gushes out.
In order for you to get water all the way to the end of your proposed run I think that your outlets along the way would have to be pretty small (which may clog easier) with a more extreme slope (which may not look as good).

Thanks BWG! I have a flat hose and can move it around, the only thing I worry about are the turns at the corners of the yard where the fold of the hose can block the water from flowing, perhaps I can connect the flat hose to a corner pvc connection and see if it will work. I'll also need to make some holes every few inches in the flat hose to release the water on the soil, let me test it out to make sure it doesn't split open the hose.

Thanks Ci! Your setup sounds almost exactly like what I'm looking for. The advice on incline and outlets are great insights! When the weather gets warmer, I'll test out the backwash pressure on some pipes to see how far it can travel.

If you're flushing the yucky water out through this pipe or hose, you also may need to follow it up with some fresh water once in a while to avoid it getting gross or clogging up.
Good luck! Please post your results.

Yes, I was thinking about that and thought the rinse cycle may take care of it or when I do a water change every once in a while?

The garden benefits from a nutrient rich pond water.

New York has to rehash the sewer water.

I am sure New Yorker's pay for the water.

Yeah, I rather reuse the water especially since it is good for the plants. It is a win-win if there is a way to do it.

      Call the irrigation folks in.

You could spend money and time, will you defiantly be happy with the results?

      They are the professionals,

This volume of water & this distance = this pipe diameter over this distance and would need this number and

      size of pop ups.

At this distance apart to cover the square area of the areas to be covered in flowers and grass.

The this size orifice in the pop ups would handle this poop size.

2 or 3 recommendations and prices if need be.

And a feel for the salesman experience and know how!
