      Sticker shock

I just looked for Hikari multi season food for this season and WOW. If I remember pricing from my last purchase it has gone up about $50 for a 33lb bag, time to downgrade.

Blackwater Gold N price is holding steady at least here. Chewy has it at $149 for 40lbs. Sometimes that was the best I could do a few years ago, sales were at $125 typically so I can't complain too much. I am hoping they are at the Orlando show and selling cheaper, will pick up a bag or two then.

Bulk weight shipping is getting very expensive. Once a company adds in it's "FREE" shipping the heavier bags get expensive. I buy from a local fish farm that buys by the multi pallet and pick up directly. This way none of the advertised high "FREE" shipping costs are included.

Heck, even me living locally I can't get Blackwater cheap by bypassing stores and just driving over to Aquatic Nutrition. If they are at the Orlando Show they tend to bring in bags and the price is usually just about the same as retail.

Exactly. I used to buy a ton at a time in 40lb bags for a little less than $1 a pound and as some remember I shared it with our members. Being in Florida, the shipping was about $1 a bag. Probably has went up a bit since then but still.

Out of curiosity, I looked up Hai Feng that I bought two and a half years ago. it was $55 with delivery then. It's 70+ now for 11 pounds. Nearly a 30% increase. Wow.

Just ordered some 20 lb bags of Mazuri Platinum Koi Nuggets from Tractor Supply, delivered to the store for zero shipping charge, $52 per bag ($2.60/lb) before tax. The Pond Nuggets would cost a little less.

yep the guy I got my fish from fed it to them

I tryed store koi food hi-price 2 lbs bag first
the koi said NO we want our catfish food they were use to
so I had to find a feed store for commercial fish growers
the turtles loved the koi food but I did not buy it for them

I think live food bugs and tadpoles are the best
dry fish food is dry fish food the names in koi food are BSing you

my pondfish food has the needed stuff to grow fish big

try it a see if your fish like it or mix it with your favorite brand

Blackwater is returning to the show. But, they've moved from the show tent to the main vendor area in the 'atrium'. You'll find them by the waterfall.

We briefly tried catfish food. Can't speak about other brands, but it put an oily sheen on the surface of the pond. Kinda felt like we were giving the kids french fries and expecting them to do well...
