Sorry to hear that you lost one of the parents!! I like the Kohaku. It is still developing and hopefully it will clean up a bit more as it grows - colors look good. The Sanke seems lacking in pattern and sumi. I could very well be wrong, but I don't believe that this fish will achieve the change required to make it a good Sanke. Thanks for sharing!

How did you lose the parents to breeding?
Did you sedate and extract eggs?

That is exactly what i did. I sedate her and extract the eggs and she was alright for few days in quarantine tank and passed away out of the blue. It was bad on my part since i did not really pay much attention to her after i extract the eggs. Well, i learned my lesson in expensive ways.

That bluetick Kohaku is a puzzle! I'd want to have a contest with it.... give everyone a koi outline and have them crayon-in the pattern it will have in 1,2, and 3 years from now.
Surely it can't hold that ticking???? Which way and where will it go!

I didn't mention previously, but you got really good growth. Can you share more about your methods, equipment, and particularly food?

This summarizes my thoughts as well. Thanks for posting these. I am likewise interested in the food and any thoughts on how you have gotten such good growth. I see that you are very near the equator. So I am sure the warm temperature year round helps with growth.

Very nice! Though not the top quality still very good.

I just wonder from how many fry in the beginning you selected these two?
