Is the pond api test kit the go to test kit to buy for a koi pond. I noticed it doesn’t have a kh test. Is there some better kit to buy?

I bought one of these

Then this as well.

Covers most everything.
I also have a seneye and a few different PH meters to keep my seneye honest lol.

The Freshwater Master Test Kit is the one you should have purchased. As it measures nitrates as well. So you would need to buy the nitrate one separately.
I bought both, I just posted the wrong one, will fix.
So the freshwater kit instead of the pond one. Interesting. Thanks for the info

If looking for a good "master test kit" we use
https://koienterprise.com/Test-Kits/...it-p-1045.html
API’s master fresh water kit nitrate chart has the same color for 40ppm and 80ppm - at this range, you cannot tell what you get!
I just use my finger, eye(yup-just one),tongue. Taste/temp/targets (-ssss-ssss )

Odd, isn't it? The Pond Kit has a *wide* range pH test kit which is too broad. The Freshwater Kit has the *high* range pH. That's the one you want.![]()

Correct! It is very frustrating. I think it is really important to distinguish the difference between 40 and 80 as a pond with 80 is much dirtier than a pond of 40. This should help:

I prefer the wide range ph test over the high range, because it can detect a ph crash. (Of course a kh test is a good indicator of that too.)
