Nexus 220, Bottom Drain and Skimmer question

      Hi everyone.
Thanks for all your advice on the DIY 3 drum system but I've managed to get my hands on a second hand Nexus 220.
My question is my new pond is going to be about 9000 litres. Quite long and narrow at 5.5m long x 1.4m wide x 1.2m deep.
I'm going to fit a 3" bottom drain and a gravity fed wall skimmer with a basket on it to collect the leaves.
      Do I:
      1) Feed the skimmer line into the bottom drain pipe and use a ball valve to control it. (How do I know how much water is going through my BD though?).
      2) Pump feed the skimmer straight back to the pond, if so how big a pump do I need?
      3) Gravity feed the skimmer line back to the shed where the Nexus filter is but bypass the Nexus and feed it directly onto the outlet line instead.
      4) Or something else.
      Thank you. James.

The rule of thumb is at least 2500 gph on a 3" BD line, the more the merrier to keep it unplugged with debris. Are you running a 2 or 3" line from the skimmer? Will you have a S&G to catch the fines? What size is your pump if you have 1 now?
