      Pop eye?

      Hi,

I have an asagi that has had these bulging eyes for as long as I've had it. Got it last January-ish. I'm unsure if it bothers it as it eats very well (9" -> 22" from Jan 2021 to May 2022). I read that it could be organ failure but wouldn't it be dead by now? Its body is pretty heavy on the stomach, but not extreme. I've separated it and is salting the QT tank.
      Thanks

This is taken momenta ago in the QT tank

This was taken back in Oct, 2021. The heavy stomache never went away even after winter fast, but it did slim down a little but the proportion stay the same. My guess is just not a HQ body, but just wanna make sure it's healthy. You can see the eye bulging.

Some individual koi have pop eyes without being sick. I have one with pop eyes since I got it for 2 years ago.

      Thanks!
I hope that's the case. The picture from moments ago isn't as concerning as how it was yesterday. In my opinion, it was worse last night and then got better this morning. That's why I was concerned. Just wanted to be sure.

      Some reasons
      stress
      kidney problems
      infection
      over feeding
decompression effects of nitrogen supersaturated water
      tumor
      hormonal issues
      Osmotic effects
      Genetics
Excessive chemical and other pond treatments
      Seasonal temperature changes

Sometimes a kois eyes well bulge from health issues and they well stay out even after healing.

See if you can touch the belly and get a feel, recently I have 2 kois that are puffy to the touch and they are responding to antibiotic treatment.

So the fish that I treated with antibiotic also had a bit of a popped eye and is getting better after the treatment, something to consider if it bothers you.
