Hello all,
I bought this Dainichi Kohaku last year when it was a tosai 11".
It is about 20"or 22" now.
Can you judge it for me?
I'm still a rookie, I just start this koi hobby last year with my 12 years old son.
He wants to have a koi (kois) that he can bring to show someday; So we need to learn a lot.

Try mix color food in warmer months of feeding
Sunlight is extremely important for skin and color

All I can tell you that is when koi not in growth mode then it will concentrate on beauty
This color tone can indicate a female koi but it is kinda like persimmon color which hard to be a fully deep red tone for show
Karashi will stretch out too but also will get darker overtime so give them time

I was thinking of the more feeding the better. Rookie mistake!
I will reduce feeding and adding color food.

Winning is all about, what the fish is up against on the day.
Pattern and shimmies are all part of the package.
A shimmy is a demerit.
Body is what it is all about when it gets to the big ones.

The pond has about 2 hours of direct sunlight per day.

I fed it Kodama koi food for the first 6 months, and then Nijikawa since then.

I think I got "lucky".
I won another Dainichi showa at the same auction which is a little bigger than the kohaku now.
I will take some pictures of it and post here when I get home this afternoon.
These 2 fish were the one that no ones want so I got them cheap (compare to other auction fish, not to me)
