Why aren't my koi like yours?

Hey, everyone,

So, almost every time I see videos of other people's ponds, their koi are swimming around near the surface, all happy-like and cavorting in the water. In my ponds? Not so much. In all three ponds, it's the same: they stay at the bottom. In fact, if the water weren't so clear I'd never see them. They sometimes even hang out in a single or double file line, facing the current, hugging the bottom. They'd even rather wait for the food to come down to them, rather than coming to the surface for it.

In every other respect, they seem healthy. What am I doing wrong?

With such little information to go on I am willing to say lethargic koi, hanging on the bottom and not interested in food is ammonia in the water.

Since you say all three ponds my guess would be a question, are you feeding sinking food?

It's a little variable - one pond is in the greenhouse - but somewhere around 70...

Potential predators?

I did think of that, especially in the lower pond. But there aren't any predators in the greenhouse...

I've never had this before. It must be something I'm doing???

Do you have any real friendly single color in there? My pond had that problem until I introduced 2 really friendly karashigoi in and now they eat out of my hand

Waiting to see the video, maybe some floating vegetation may make them feel safer?

What is your water temperature?
I would also be curious what your water parameters are. And if they're stable over time, or do you regularly have to work to keep things like ammonia and ph in check?
Is there a covering over the pond, or is it open to the sun/sky? Does anything move over the top of the water? My fish don't like it when anything moves above them.
