Pump failure

My Elite 800 pump just quit on me. Can I temporarily hook up my submersible to the Elite's pond suction and leave the Elite in place until I find and have delivered a replacement? The Elite runs my 55-gallon Birdman and gravity feeds back to the pond.

You could try but the pump and plumbing might create so much head that you don't get much flow. But it shouldn't hurt the
pump (any more ) just forcing water through it. Does it have a priming pot with the pump? Maybe you could pull the pump itself
and run the sub pump through the priming pot? I don't know much about the Elite pumps.
