In my opinion it looks like it will take some time to develop beneath and behind the dorsal fin. I am not sure the sumi around the pectoral fins would retain its luster by then though. Just my opinion- but k don’t know where it comes from. I think the genetics determine much of that. It would really help to see a progression of this fish until now to determine what is coming and what is going. Sumi tends to be very strong in my experience but can fade fast as well or spread toward the head and out, making for a sloppy and dirty look.

Koi keeping, patience, is what it's all about.

      It's there!

      Now the patience kicks in.

      Tsubo sumi.

      Nice fish,probably a male.

They say soft water makes a difference?

The breeder of this showa is Purdin. I am not sure what bloodline they use for this sansai but from what I read on Facebook, it may have been Momotaro and Ueno. Best to verify with them. She has good growth for sure but like Asagibottom said, when the sumi becomes fully developed other things may or may not fall apart, be it luster or beni.

It is rare to see a 30 inch female gosanke for sale for only $1200. Some may say this is an uneducated statement but perhaps the price is an indication of pond grade fish. Depends on what you are looking for. I'd say it's a good deal for size, variety...etc. Like all things it's a gamble.

Thanks. I like her and I'm fine if she does or doesn't develop more. I was just curious
