India Lotus - Seeds- zone 9b

After several failed attempts of growing hardy/tropical lilies & lotus bulbs as well as seeds more than I want to admit

Here is a fresh start for hopeful-post-covid-19 season :
      • Seeds been sand off with grinder .
      • Water change every other days.

Another week.. temp is 70-80F during the day but 39-49 with heavy wind at night perhaps cause the difference ?!

This is indoor with the most sunlight -clear bowl right next to window .

More than 3-4 inches with healthy trunk.

This is indoor, no direct sunlight and next to window :

Decent grow - 2-3 inches but slimmer trunk.

And this poor girls are outside, 5-6 hrs minimum of direct sunlight daily

Sorry for this bad picture, I try to cover and reduce glare

I am prepare multiple containers to transfer them when ready ( rooting coming out ) -perhaps another 4 weeks.

There will be couple batch I will transfer them much earlier than the typical 35 days: I like to see if we can jumpstart it and hope that it will grow successfully in my 9b with mountain wind weather .

I will head to the MD ( just barely miss the nasty weather @ NE tomorrow ) this weekend and will stay there for few weeks.

This batch will be outside and my wife will have to them cover for the night ( I hope )

Hi Phuc: you are lucky, Orlando weather is nice and warm for the lotus to grow.

From what I heard from an older native India, I am trying an 80-clay and 20-manure soil mix and will see how things grow: this needs to be in a wide-and-shallow pot and placed inside a larger pot ( to control the water level ?).

And if you have koi in your pond, then it will not survive past one season, ask me how do I know!

I have been using API tablets, ... all not working so far for me .

Here is what they are today

Note that the outside are completely slow and look the same, so I am sure our local weather had a lot to do with it.
( I just head back from MD, so I can not complaint !)
