      Omosako shiro utsuri tosai selection

Which tosai would you choose from amongst these 4 and why? Omosako Black Panda bloodline.

Not an expert but probably C, A has too much and unbalanced motoguro on pectoral fins, B maybe for size already too much Sumi? Between C and D I would gamble C would have the best pattern once grown.
In the 4 months since I got my 2 Shiro from Omosako the growth has been really good, when I got them they were probably similar size to the ones in your photo but now I would say they are considerably bigger. Any size for reference?

A and D are around 8-9". I ruled out B because of what you raised. I was wondering about D but was worried about the possible large gap of white between the head and dorsal fin but know that I don't know enough to understand if that is truly a concern.

Take all the guesses out of the equation and purchase all four of them, oh! And why, because you will select the best one of the four

A little more information, at this stage look for sumi on the dorsal, tail, gills, pectoral fins and the most important is the white (Shiro) they all seem to have a decent white.

Yes, all 4 has really nice white, what I was expecting from this breeder. I will have to study those areas more closely.

I also asked for females to be put into the bowl if they could tell at this age (the dealer stated that Omosako sent them about 80% females in this batch)

Only a trained eye can select koi for gender at this stage in their development, I will be pretty shure of this and that is that 90% of koi that leave that farm at such of young age are males.

The dealer can “state” pretty much anything. The truth isn’t necessarily part of it.

I think a question you should address is are you looking to grow it big or have a nice pattern?

Good question. I am looking mainly to have a nice pattern that is clean and balanced as much as this level of tosai can go.
