      Air pump question

Hi, My pond is new and holds 2200 gal. I currently have Aquascape skimmer and waterfall which turns the water over constantly. I just installed a Blue Diamond Model ET air pump and Root Scape large pond aerator. Looks like a lot of air being pumped in. Question, will to much air harm the Koi and can a valve be installed in line to cut the flow back w/out overheating the pump? Thanks in advance for the help. Russell Edit I'll learn to rotate the pics. Sorry.

Preferable keep your air pump out of the sun.

The transformers coils can burn out.

House in a well ventilated cool housing.

      Position above the water level.

The pond water can siphon into the pump and flood it

      If the power fails

Divert the air into the atmosphere or another aerator stone in your filter, rather than restrict with a valve.

High operating back pressures pop diaphragms.

This link shows an example of air manifold with valves to allow controlling air to diffuser

Pond air pumps always last longer with less back pressure. Never choke down an air pump for less air. Use a manifold and vent the excess. If you don't like the air escaping noise construct a PVC muffler.

Biological filters thrive with lots of air.

Your undersized filter might just be right with the added air

Blowing air off is absolute sacrilege.

Your fish will require the air, if the stocking limits are touch and go or the ambient air temps are way up hot.

Don't skimp on air pipe sizes
