      Fuchsia

One of my favorite types of plants. I especially like the upright varieties and I got
a few new ones this year but I had to work to keep them from burning up in the +100* heat
we had this summer. With fall approaching here they're looking much happier :

This is called Fuchsia Magellanica - common Senorita

It's didn't come out well in the pic but this variety is the only one I think I've ever seen
that has an orange colored center flower. It's called Neon Tricolor...

I love Fuchsia! It’s something I can’t seem to keep alive. I tried several times, but gave up. I always figured we have too much heat and humidity.
      Your is beautiful!

Very pretty blooms and your plants look so healthy. You did well to keep them doing so well in that heat. Do you have humidity there? I have tried several times over the years and always thought it was the heat & humidity was the reason they didn't do well for me.

I'm with you SouthernStarr. I keep seeing them in for sale in Home Depot and always try them but they never seem to do good for me. They are beautiful! Nice job growing them Steve! I'm jealous!

I noticed the Neon Fuchsia is really enjoying the cool fall weather and you could see the orange color
much better now so took a quick picture.
I think it's the only orange one I've ever seen....

That is a pretty shade of orange. Will you bring them in for the winter?

No, I put some extra mulch on them and they should be okay. If it's like my other ones it dies all the way
back and in the spring it'll start new shoots. The big ones (over about 2' tall) I cut back after it freezes so
      they don't get real leggy.

Going through older threads gleaning info and discovered this... I really want fuschia, but am struggling to find someone selling hardy fuschia. Are these hardy and if so where did you get them?!?

They are all suppose to be hardy but I bought several of the new last year and I wasn't sure. After the 110* heat over the summer
and 15*-20* this winter, I figured I'd find out how "hardy" the new ones really were! I did cover them when it got over 100* and
when it got really cold for extended time, but it seems after they've been in the ground a few years they are pretty bullet proof.
I went out to check them just now and happy to report it looks like all have made it through just fine!

I bought the new ones at a place called Valley Nursery locally, but in Vancouver or Portland I'm sure any
good nursery store will carry them. It might be a little early for them to have in to sell now though.

Be sure to show us would you get!

That is great that they are all coming up. Looking forward to see pics of your blooms.
