      Beautiful Fish, But....

      Ridiculous prices!!!

I was bored today and looked at the Blackwater Creek web-site to see what they had for sale. Saw some beautiful individual goldfish, but WOWZA!

Check the prices, almost 3 grand for one ??

People have paid far more for Koi, but the price to quality at BW Creek is very off. You can pick up a nice Tosai from PSKoi for $150-$500 each and with proper care end up with fish that make BW Creek's best fish look like pond grade.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I really like your goldfish...

My neighbor has Koi and offered me my pick of the babies they had for free. I actually opted to stick with my goldfish. I love the variety I have, the fact they are more hardy, and I can put more goldfish than Koi in the same pond. I think if they all looked the same (comet/Sarasa) I wouldn't enjoy them as much. The variety makes the pond watching so much better. I will happily pay more to get that and have driven a few hours to pick up unique fish. Now I've spent $40 max, but I could see going $100 for the right one.. anymore than that I would really struggle. Of course the $100 fish would be the one the hawk gets so I'll likely keep buying small $20-$40 ones

All of that to say I was talking to another ponder and they thought I was crazy for buying anything other than the $0.99 feeder goldfish. I just know I wouldn't personally be happy with that lack of uniqueness in my pond. To each their own I guess...

How is a damaged goldfish still 1k?
And what is a "goldenfish"? Because those are the thousand dollar ones for some reason.

      Yeah, these are nice goldfishes.

After the last 4 babies shubunkin that I brought from a trusted LFS, I guess I no longer needs to buy them anymore.

A friend of mine had given me a bunches of goldfishes to me for FREE if I want them, set aside some are mixed with feeder fish. But they looks very nice, they have long tail. I forgot what he called them. I got about 10ish so far and I am supposed to be getting about 30 more from him for my DW's Lily ponds. Not sure when will that happens.

Money is just an exchange unit. I'll give you this if you give me that. Then you decide. The amount is only relevant to the person with the money.
