Beauty and the Beast
It was a cool spring so some of the tropicals are running late. I got the first flower on Amorphophallus paeoniifolius, but I have nearly another hundred tubers planted. I started growing them to sell at Green Thumb Festival a huge horticultural sale in St Pete traditionally held in April on Arbor Day weekend. Needless to say, it has been postponed the last two seasons and the tubers keep piling up. Hopefully next year < g >
This is the first bloom on a native orchid named Encyclia tampensis. A friend reduced a bunch of them (with permission ) from a lot that was being cleared for development and gave me some of the orphans to rear. They are attached to some live oaks and seem happy.
