Be aware that if there are any roots in the area, count on them to penetrate through any liner pass-through points, including flanges around bottom drains and side ports, ones with or without sealant. I've had it happen three times so far. The last time, they completely plugged up a concrete encased bottom drain box. I have no solution other than cutting down every plant within 100 feet or so. One approach might be to dig a trench around the pond and check it periodically for roots.
